Bathory is a film about the infamous 'vampire,' Countess Elisabeth Bathory of the late 16th Century. An independent and strong-willed woman in a time when those women were uncommon, she was reknown through the Western world for her power and beauty. To retain her beauty she turned to questionable means -- her belief in the powers of human blood. By the end of her campaign she was responsible for the deaths of over six hundred young women.

In the end Elisabeth was removed from power, not directly because of her violent actions. The niece of a king, wife of a military hero, and very wealthy in her own right, she was an intelligent and formidable woman in the midst of a political struggle between the royals of Eastern Europe. Our film intends to recount but a small portion of Elisabeth Bathory's incredible life.
